Episodes 9-11

Stunt : VW Golf turns 5.5 times upside down
From episode 9 : 'Shotgun'

In this stunt the tyres of the Golf are punctured by shot. Next he goes into a skid and by that he turns upside down. The most difficult part of this stunt is the start of turning upside down. This has to be done without the help of a ramp, so that it seems that the Golf is turning upside down by the skidding. That's why the stuntteam uses a launchingsystem. This system has been told about in part 1 of "The Making Of". Then the system was used to launch a van into the air. There the van was launched into the air by a wooden cylinder, which was shot out of the ground. In the Golf-stunt the system is used the other way round. The wooden cylinder is now in the Golf and is shot downwards while the Golf is driving. The wooden cylinder hits the asphalt and pushes the Golf into the air. The wooden cylinder is placed in a steel cylinder, which the stuntteam has build in the Golf at the right place. In the left picture you can see the steel cylinder in the blue circle. Further a cage-construction is placed in the Golf and also the necessary facilities for the protection of the stuntman are built into the Golf. When all preparations are finished the stunt can be filmed. The stuntman drives with a proper speed at the highway and starts the launchingsystem on the right moment. The the car turns 5.5 times upside down, which you could see in "Cobra 11".


Stunt : Woman jumps of balcony
From episode 10 : 'Ausgesetzt'

In this stunt it looks like the woman jumps of the balcony on the ninth floor and André can just grab her at her belt, while he is hanging over the edge of the balcony. Of course the actors are replaced by members of the stuntteam in this stunt. The shootings in which you see the actors hanging at the balcony are filmed on the first floor. However the stunt in which the woman jumps is recorded on the ninth floor. Here the stuntwoman is connected to a rope. When she jumps she is stopped by the rope after a few metres. So she can never fall down. Another stuntman is playing the role of André and is going to hang over the edge of the balcony to grab the woman at her belt. What you didn't see in the episode is that the stuntman can't grab the stuntwoman at her belt, because his arm is just to short. Fortunately for the stuntwoman she was connected to the rope.


Stunt : Renault Espace flies from bridge
From episode 11 : 'Kaltblütig'

To let the Espace fly in nice way of the bridge the stuntteam builds a wooden ramp. This ramp is hidden with the help of some plants, so that the viewers can't see it, but it takes care of that the Espace flies with a beautiful curve into the water. The van is flown into the water without a driver, because the stuntman can't come out of the van easily in the water. So the van is pushed by another car and is steered by a rail-system (see part 1). In the right picture you can see all this. The van is being pushed by the light blue Corvette with the tyre on his nose. The Corvette is just steering to the left to not be launched by the ramp. Behind the Corvette you can see the rail as a long straight stripe across the road. Just in front of the Espace you can see some green plants, which are hiding the ramp.
